Spring Weather

Hey all. It's only February, but it was 64 degrees today! We're having some lovely Spring weather here in Milwaukee. Hopefully it sticks around! There were even some garage sales today! Crazy!!

I was sick for an entire week, but I'm finally feeling a little better. Last weekend I didn't even go anywhere - you know I'm truly sick if I don't even hit up a Goodwill! So after work today I went to a few thrift stores, and even one crappy estate sale. I found a few items. I've been doing ebay a bit lately, to tide me over. It's just so boring this time of year! And not a whole lot of good stuff in the thrift stores.

Anyway, here's a few of the goodies that I've picked up recently. Enjoy! :-)

I got this kitchen towel off of ebay. It's actually huge, so it could double as a small tablecloth. I thought it would be nice for St. Patrick's Day.

Cute little clovers... and an elephant!

A tiny wind-up Westclox.. made in Germany. This was at Goodwill for $2.00 + 20% off.

I love this little roller skating puppy.. I found him at USA Family Thrift.

Also found a little bluebird. He can brighten up my kitchen!

Another kitchen towel I got off of ebay. Anthropomorphic kitchen items. Cute!

Another ebay kitchen towel. This one is in like new condition.

I told you.. I'm on an ebay kick! I loved the red/white dotted border.

A nifty little teapot that my mom picked up for me. It's says, "The Enterprise Aluminum Company: Drip-o-lator," on the bottom.

Really pretty prairie green Frankoma vase I found at Goodwill. The glaze almost looks like copper turning green. Very nice.  I only paid $4.00 for it!

Canette brand Flour canister that I picked up at an estate sale for $1.00. I wish that the whole set was there, but this was the only one. It's in great shape though, so for $1.00 you can't really say no.

A couple of vintage Christmas books. The Christmas Treasure Book is from 1950.

Ho Ho Ho! Go away Santa.. it's time for Spring!

Four saucers that I bought at Goodwill for .50 cents a piece. The saucer with the cherries is my favorite! The pink one is dated 1929!

Plastic rolling bunny toy made by Empire. It was .99 cents at USA Family thrift, and the only remotely vintage Easter item that they had out.

I found these framed vintage New Years post cards at Goodwill for $2.00. They are removable too, so I figured it was worth the price.

A little Shiny Brite box with a few ornaments that I picked up for .80 cents at an estate sale.

I found five Kromex aluminum spice canisters at Goodwill - .99 cents a piece + 20% off. I wish they had had the entire set, but I'm happy with the five. These have been on my wishlist for a long time.

I don't know if these are old, but I thought they were adorable. Can't say no to kitties. :-)

Lots of vintage recipe book pamphlets. I can never have enough! They are fun to look at!

I couldn't pass up this pink Pyrex 501! $1.50 at Goodwill.

I found this little vintage birthday candle box at a creepy estate sale. It was in a box of junk. I got it for a quarter. I thought the bird graphics were cute.

A McCoy smiley mug! I've always wanted one of these.

A few pottery pieces that I scored at the Goodwill today.

A sweet little bar glass featuring fishies.

A Libbey striped/dotted glass and a Hazel Atlas sour cream glass.

Hazel Atlas glass shakers - no lids. :-(

A mama dog with her pups.

And finally, some St. Patrick's Day goodies... Dennison dancers!

 A happy Beistle honeycomb Leprechaun!

I don't know why this loaded upside down, but I'm too tired to flip it. These aren't marked, but the graphics are nice.

Erin Go Bragh honeycomb - made in the good ol' US of A!

February = pink stuff

Hey all. Been awhile. I have been too busy to post pictures, especially with the craziness of the holidays! I'm going to try to make it a habit to post more though. It's been cold here in Wisconsin this past week. The weather keeps jumping from mild to freezing, rain to snow. We're having a strange winter. I'm looking forward to spring time! I miss the garage sales and estate sales. I've still been going to the thrifts pretty regularly, but the shelves are definitely not as packed as the spring and summer months. I've also been to a few decent estate sales here and there. I went to an estate sale yesterday and it was filled to the brim with McCoy and Shawnee pottery. I bought quite a bit, because the prices were great. This was actually the second weekend for this sale - I've been there three times already! I was #1 on the sign up sheet yesterday too, so I was able to grab a few more planters that I didn't get last week. I'll have to make a separate post for the pottery though. Anyway, here's a few pictures of random Valentine's decoration, and some little items that I've recently acquired.

The top of my kitchen corner cabinet. It's definitely pink/red. I bought the Holt Howard kitties at the pottery estate sale. They were priced at $27.00 for the pair, but thankfully it was 1/2 price day! Unfortunately their squeakers are not working, but they are in otherwise excellent condition!

Some of my vintage Valentines. I just bought the cute pirate one. :-)

A neat German-made wind up wall clock that my Aunt gave to me. The only problem is you have to not be lazy and actually wind it up every other day for it to keep proper time.

Adorable California pottery Gilner elf cookie jar. It's not marked, but I have a few other Gilner elf pieces, and that it what this looks like to me (the little green acorn hat!). $3.99 at Goodwill. I filled it with cookies the other day, and when I went to eat one last night the cookies were all soft and crumbly! I don't know if it was the cookie brand, or if the seal on the lid isn't good. Well, it's still cute, cookies or no cookies.

My living-room display cabinet. As you can see, a lot of pottery lives there. The pastels are so lovely. I also have a few vintage Valentine's day post cards as well as a random troll doll. I was desperate.. I don't have many Valentine's day decorations!

I do have a few melted popcorn plastic decorations for the occasion though! I also have some hanging in my front window - cupids and hearts. I think I have melted popcorn plastic for every holiday!

Vintage Royal Beauties birthday cards. .99 cents at Goodwill for the entire box!

 I like old card boxes.

I got this cute kitty tin at an estate sale. I think the woman running the sale actually just gave it to me for free.

I liked it because of the graphics running along the side of the tin.

 Bottom of the tin.
Roly Poly made in Japan Santa. I bought him last week at Goodwill for .99. He's too sweet!

Vintage New Year's napkins. I have a weird thing for paper items - paper tablecloths, napkins, cards, post cards..

And that's it for now. I solemnly promise to post more pictures soon. :)
